National Education Summit

The Conversation Continues

There are some ideas that seem to follow you.

They begin as questions raised in a classroom, a conversation with a colleague, or a challenge encountered in practice. Then they appear again in research, in conversations with leaders, in professional learning and in the experiences teachers share when given the space to speak honestly about their work.

For me, one of those ideas has been sustainability.

Not sustainability in the environmental sense, but in a professional one: How do we create excellent learning experiences without relying on educators continually giving more of themselves to make them possible?

It is a question that has shaped much of TorchWay Education’s work this year. And, more recently, it took me to Melbourne, where I presented at the National Education Summit on sustainable curriculum design. The conversation there reinforced something I have been thinking about for a long time: excellence should not depend on unsustainable effort.

If you missed it, feel free to catch a recording of that talk here.

And that idea now sits at the heart of something I am incredibly excited to share.

This publication brings together educators, researchers, leaders, practitioners and community voices from across Australia to explore what it really takes to make excellent practice last.

It is thoughtful, practical, ambitious and deliberately different.

The digital edition will be FREE to read, with a professionally printed edition also available.
