Masterpiece and Monster

Certain texts refuse to stay confined to their century.

Wilde’s novel, 'The Picture of Dorian Gray', is often treated as a Victorian artefact, but its anxieties - around beauty, influence, and the construction of the self - remain strikingly contemporary.

On May 9, I’m joining the ETAQ Literature Community of Practice to present: 'Masterpiece and Monster.'

This session will model analytical approaches to key moments in the text while also offering creative classroom strategies that invite students to encounter Dorian’s world imaginatively.

If you’re looking for ways to elevate student analysis and embed the scaffolds students need to breathe life into their own creative work, I’d love to see you there.
